Job Title: DevOps EngineerJob Description This DevOps Engineer role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments to support frequent, reliable software delivery for high-fidelity modeling and simulation systems. You will automate infrastructure deployment and management, integrate automated testing and security tools into pipelines, and collaborate closely with development and test teams to enhance build, integration, and deployment processes. The position requires hands-on work with Unix/Linux, container technologies, and CI/CD tooling in a fully onsite environment supporting mission-critical threat modeling products. Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support frequent, reliable, and automated software delivery.Automate infrastructure deployment, scaling, and management using configuration management and scripting tools.Implement and manage containerization technologies such as Docker or Podman, including selecting and configuring rootless vs. rootful modes as appropriate.Deploy applications into containerized environments and ensure they operate reliably and securely.Collaborate closely with development and test teams to improve build, integration, and deployment processes across the software lifecycle.Integrate automated testing frameworks and quality/security tools, such as static analysis, code quality, and coverage tools, into CI/CD pipelines.Implement and maintain automated software testing and analysis workflows within CI/CD pipelines, including unit, integration, and acceptance tests.Monitor system and pipeline performance, identify bottlenecks or reliability issues, and implement improvements to ensure high availability and efficiency.Administer Unix/Linux systems and support operations in production-like environments, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.Work with credential and identity management solutions, such as credential managers, service accounts, or Keycloak-like technologies, to securely manage non-interactive access.Collaborate with teams working on high-fidelity threat modeling and simulation products to ensure DevOps practices support modeling, data production, and analysis activities.Support maintenance and sustainment activities for the broader software baseline by ensuring pipelines and infrastructure remain current, stable, and secure.Travel up to 10% of the time, as needed, to support business and project requirements. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related experience.Current, active, in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application.Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.Hands-on experience with containerization and container runtime technologies such as Docker, Podman, or similar tools.Experience deploying applications in containerized environments.Experience with automated testing and software development pipelines or factories, including unit, integration, or acceptance tests in CI/CD.Experience with CI/CD tools and related platforms such as the Atlassian tool suite, Jira, GitHub, GitLab, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Coverity, or Jenkins.Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.Strong experience with Linux administration, including shell scripting and operations in production-like environments.Experience implementing and maintaining automated software testing and analysis within CI/CD pipelines.Experience working with credential and identity management solutions, such as credential managers, service accounts, Keycloak, or similar technologies, to securely manage non-interactive access. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with hypervisors and virtualized medium- and high-trust environments, including experience working with hypervisors on medium trust environments.Exposure to Kubernetes, including experience operating or supporting container orchestration in Linux environments.Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.Experience with Kubernetes in conjunction with Unix/Linux operating systems.Interest in supporting high-fidelity threat modeling and modeling and simulation (M&S) capabilities, including kinematic missile modeling, IR signature modeling, and related data production and analysis activities.Motivation to contribute to long-term, mission-focused programs, including maintenance and sustainment of a large, complex software baseline. Work Environment This role is fully onsite at a secure facility, supporting advanced threat modeling and modeling and simulation efforts for complex defense systems. You will work within the Threat Systems Engineering organization, which develops and delivers high-fidelity threat modeling products and modeling and simulation capabilities used to simulate element models, including kinematic missile modeling, IR signature modeling, and associated data production and analysis. The environment centers on maintaining and enhancing a comprehensive software baseline that underpins these simulations and is a cornerstone of a larger threat and advanced simulations development contract. You will work with Unix/Linux systems, containerization technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code solutions in a production-like environment. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, test, and analysis teams in a structured, security-conscious setting, with long-term program stability and opportunities to support new and evolving efforts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Colorado Springs, CO. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
