DevOps Engineer 3

About the role

The DevOps Engineer will work within the DevOps Engineering team to support various Cat Digital engineering teams in developing, building, testing, and deploying solutions to the cloud. This is a backfill position. The role is hybrid with a schedule of 2 days per week on-site (as requested) and the remainder remote, located in Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX. Daily schedule is Monday through Friday, 1st shift CST. The initial contract is 12 months with possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

• Manage AWS IAM
• Troubleshoot Caterpillar/Cloud connection issues
• Work with engineers on CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code tasks
• Participate in internal standup meetings
• Serve as the single point of contact for assigned Digital engineering teams, providing DevOps support

Requirements

• 5‑7 years of software development experience
• High school diploma required (no degree required)
• At least 5+ years of experience in a DevOps Engineer role
• At least 5+ years of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud experience
• Proficient with GitHub and GitHub Actions for source control and YAML‑based CI/CD
• Proficient writing and deploying AWS cloud infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation templates
• Strong AWS experience with MLOps and AI services (e.g., SageMaker Notebooks, Bedrock, ECS/EKS, IAM)
• Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills; ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams
• Analytic mindset and skilled problem solver for troubleshooting issues
• Great verbal and written communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration
