Developmental Technician, General Facilities Maintenance

Position Summary

Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures under the supervision of a more senior technician.

What you'll do...

• Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures under the supervision of a more senior technician.
• Inspects, cleans, and repairs facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
• Observes and documents signs of wear and tear and documents preventive maintenance activities.
• Diagnoses problems using blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as needed.
• Utilizes hand tools, power tools, hoists, and other equipment to respond to emergency calls involving facilities equipment or fixtures and documents repair activities.
• Assists on work orders and routine maintenance schedules by completing and providing required written and electronic information, such as expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders, maintenance logs, and submitting warranty claims.
• Requests parts for maintenance or repair work, records parts usage, conducts price comparisons of parts and travel-related costs, and submits warranty claims.
• Ensures quality work is completed in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and codes.
• Unloads and stores equipment and transports equipment between facilities.
• Develops, communicates, and implements processes and practices to meet business needs by collaborating with managers, coworkers, customers, and other business partners.
• Analyzes and applies information from multiple sources to monitor progress and results and identify and address improvement opportunities.

• The hourly wage range for this position is $16.00 - $28.00.
• Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances.

Minimum Qualifications

• Vocational or technical certification and 2 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
• Option 2: 4 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
• Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
• No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical trade program.
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Licenses in related trade in city and/or state where job is located.
• Experience using blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
