About the Role
The Program Specialist serves as a lead instructor and mentor within the program, combining hands-on coaching, leadership, and operational support to ensure classes run effectively and consistently. This role promotes a positive experience for students, families, and team members while maintaining a safe and engaging learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead classes and ensure safe, structured, and engaging instruction for all students.
- Teach and model proper techniques across all events and skill levels.
- Implement lesson plans and adapt instruction based on individual student abilities and progress.
- Independently set up lesson plans safely, correctly, and efficiently.
- Monitor student performance and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Assist with evaluating student readiness and progression to the next level.
- Supervise students during classes and maintain appropriate behavior, focus, and participation.
- Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed at all times and address safety concerns immediately.
- Enforce all gym policies, procedures, and program expectations.
- Assist with completing and following up on incident reports as directed.
- Assist with training and mentoring new and current staff members.
- Coordinate with the Program Director regarding staff progress and development.
- Provide guidance and support to instructors during classes as needed.
- Model effective coaching techniques, classroom management skills, and professionalism.
- Support Program Specialists and Directors with daily operations and program needs.
- Work with the Program Director to facilitate daily staff huddles and communicate key updates.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to address and resolve facility issues and safety concerns.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down equipment for classes and activities.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of gym areas.
- Interact with customers in a friendly, professional, and proactive manner.
- Represent the program positively and address questions or concerns promptly and appropriately.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, accomplishments, and areas for improvement.
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff while promoting an exceptional program experience.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, spot, and demonstrate skills throughout shifts.
- Ability to lift and move equipment as necessary.
- Ability to actively participate in instructional activities and respond quickly to emergency situations.
Schedule
- Minimum 30 hours per week.
- Must be available to work a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
- Schedule flexibility is required to meet the needs of the schedule and program.
Pay
Starting pay of $17.00 per hour. Opportunities for pay increases and advancement based on performance, experience, and additional responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position operates in an active gym environment and requires frequent interaction with students, families, and staff. Daytime, evening, and weekend availability is required based on program schedules and operational needs.
