About the role

The position is available through UCSD Temporary Employment Services (TES).

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and distribute incoming packages and materials.
  • Prepare, package, and coordinate outgoing shipments.
  • Sort, organize, count, and inventory hardware and fabrication components.
  • Aid technical staff with preparation and staging of materials for drifter assembly and fabrication.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and organized storage areas.
  • Perform general warehouse, workshop, and studio housekeeping duties.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools in support of fabrication activities.
  • Follow established safety procedures when operating tools and handling materials.
  • Assist with moving, lifting, and transporting equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding materials, shipments, and inventory.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills, including experience using email, printers, and common software applications.
  • Experience using hand tools and basic shop equipment.
  • Experience operating handheld power tools in a professional, educational, construction, manufacturing, or workshop environment.
  • Knowledge of common hardware components, including bolts, screws, washers, nuts, and related materials.
  • Ability to organize materials, maintain inventory records, and perform detailed counting tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and professional disciplines.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Valid California Driver's License and ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience working in a warehouse, fabrication shop, manufacturing environment, construction setting, or research support operation.
  • Experience operating carpentry equipment such as table saws and chop saws.
  • Basic carpentry or fabrication experience.
  • Experience receiving, shipping, and inventorying materials and equipment.

Pay

Annual Full Pay Range: $57,629 - $68,883 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $27.60 - $32.99
