Development Services Technician I

About the role

This position supports the development process, focusing on planning, zoning, building safety, engineering, and fire. It involves mentoring the Development Counter Team and contract staff, utilizing Accela environments to improve system functionality, and participating in Rapid Improvement Events.

Responsibilities

• Daily support of the Development Counter Team and contract staff by ensuring process data integrity through mentoring.
• Utilize Accela Back Office Test Environment and Accela Citizen Access Test Environment to enhance system functionality.
• Participate as a Rapid Improvement Event team member to support departmental improvements.
• Accept and review EZ applications for completion, collect fees, route to appropriate staff, perform data entry, and ensure all required plans and reports are complete before acceptance.
• Calculate and collect all applicable fees.
• Improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and provide quality customer service.
• Absorb and resolve permit and inspection problems to ensure smooth operations and high-quality customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of department operations and customer service.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in a permitting or related customer service environment.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting and managing multiple priorities.
• A supportive attitude toward change, willingness to develop new ideas, and a desire to be an active change agent.
