Development Project Engineer (Data Center Construction)

About the role

The Development Project Engineer (Data Center Construction) plays a crucial role in the design, preconstruction, and construction phases of various projects. This position requires strong communication skills and a deep understanding of commercial construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Aid in the development program for sites, including campus design solutions and capital budgets
• Collaborate with stakeholders, designers, engineers, commissioning agents, vendors, and corporate real estate staff
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and status reports
• Evaluate and negotiate pricing for design, construction, and commissioning services
• Create and maintain relationships with key QTS stakeholders
• Participate in due diligence efforts for potential or new land banks and properties
• Support the internal development team in enhancing project management processes and protocols

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management field or equivalent professional experience
• One or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within internal and external team environments
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Qualifications

• Basic qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management field or equivalent professional experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically PowerPoint for use in communicating program updates to executive level, and Excel to create and maintain site program & individual project budgets

Skills

• Experience or exposure in mission critical data center facilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
