Development Officer
About the role
Free Wheelchair Mission is a humanitarian, faith-based, non-profit organization based in Irvine, California, USA. The Development Officer will initiate, develop, and grow fundraising relationships with donors whose giving capacity is up to $5,000 annually, fostering greater partnerships. The role primarily involves engaging donors via phone to transition them from base to mid-level giving.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of prospects and donors valued at a minimum of $300K, with annual growth expectations.
- Achieve a weekly call goal of approximately 125 or more calls, establishing quality interactions and relationships with 700-1,000 donors.
- Identify potential major donors and collaborate with the Major Gifts team to transition 12 or more donors to a Major Gift Officer.
- Engage with high-value leads to qualify them for the foundations, church, and ambassador portfolios.
- Plan and implement portfolio moves management strategies to cultivate donors toward their full giving potential, identifying potential major donors.
- Actively use the CRM system to manage donor relationships and meet annual established goals.
- Seek and participate in approved learning and development opportunities related to Free Wheelchair Mission and the fundraising industry.
- Perform other duties and tasks assigned by a direct supervisor.
- Occasional evenings and weekends required to accommodate donor schedules.
- Share the message of Free Wheelchair Mission and our vision.
Requirements
- Self-motivated professional with proven success in fundraising, sales, client management, customer service, or a related field.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and during non-standard business hours to accommodate donor schedules.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Zoom, Outlook, and Excel, with proficiency in donor base management software (Salesforce experience preferred).
- Superior interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
- Outstanding verbal, written, and email communication skills to articulate a compelling case for donating.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Pay
$65,000–$75,000 annually, depending upon qualifications and experience.
