Summary
The Development Officer is responsible for generating leadership gift support from private sources to support the mission and vision of Children's of Alabama. This position reports to the Director of Development and functions as an integral part of the development team.
Responsibilities
- Manage charitable support for Children’s of Alabama
- Generate leadership gift support from private sources
- Initiate communication with donors and prospects
- Work with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as independently
- Conceive, plan, coordinate, and implement programs focusing on results and success in attracting substantial private support
- Communicate clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing, with a well-developed sense of propriety in dealing with a wide variety of audiences
- Handle diverse, simultaneous tasks, meet deadlines, and attend to follow-through
- Work under pressure with respect to expected and fixed goals
- Implement fundraising activities and work with individuals, families, community groups, corporations, and foundations from across the state
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database and Raiser’s Edge NXT
- Excellent verbal communication skills and proven writing skills
- Experience in writing direct appeals, e-appeals, and articles as necessary
- Customer-service orientation with ability to initiate communication with donors and prospects
- Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as independently
- Experience with budgeting, planning, and project administration
- Knowledge of fundraising principles and computer skills

Pay
Salary commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time on the Day Shift, Monday - Friday, some weekends and after hours required.
