Auburn Advancement is seeking a Development Officer to join our philanthropy team. This role is vital in building lasting relationships and securing resources to support Auburn University’s philanthropic mission.

About the role

This position is highly externally focused, requiring frequent travel and meetings on and off campus during regular and non-traditional business hours. The role operates with high levels of autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential prospects for cultivation through research, initial contact ratings, peer reviews, and other relevant resources.
  • Solicit gifts and/or club memberships through person-to-person visits, group presentations, and/or phone contacts.
  • Provide stewardship by acknowledging and showing gratitude for donations through letters, phone calls, and participation in donor events.
  • Update and inform supervisors and staff of goal status, new plans, and project proposals to ensure a cooperative team effort.
  • Prepare budgets with input from the Director, review and approve financial records, vouchers, and acquisitions.
  • Develop reports, records, and programs, and analyze information necessary to plan and complete projects.
  • Develop campaigns and/or presentation proposals related to funding priorities to keep top prospects informed and engaged.
  • Produce or assist in producing marketing materials to support development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • For Development Officer I: 2 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, and/or public relations.
  • For Development Officer II: 4 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, and/or public relations.
  • Valid and in-state driver’s license.
