development manager Job Description HANA Center (HANA) is a Chicago-area non-profit organization working to meet the critical needs of Korean, Asian American, and multiethnic immigrant communities and build power toward systemic change. HANA Center has offices in Chicago and Prospect Heights, Illinois. HANA engages a primarily low-income, limited-English proficient community, prioritizing community members who have been historically marginalized and have not had access to resources, including older adults, youth of color, women, undocumented families, survivors of gender-based violence, LGBTQ+ individuals, and intercountry adoptees. Currently, HANA engages 16,000 community members annually in the City of Chicago and northwest suburbs. Key programs include immigration services, crisis intervention and domestic violence assistance, case management, workforce development, health education and screenings, ESL tutoring, citizenship and technology classes, public benefits assistance, pro-bono legal services, housing services, senior services, youth leadership development, community organizing, and civic engagement. In partnership with the Executive Director, the Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing fundraising programs to secure support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations. Major Responsibilities: Work with HANA’s Executive Director, staff, and board to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donorsManage current grant funders and conduct prospect research and outreach to identify and engage with potential grant fundersDraft and submit grant proposals and reports for operational support and program fundsLead HANA’s annual MODU Gala and other donor stewardship and cultivation eventsWork with Communications Manager to draft appeal letters and other fundraising- and marketing-related publicationsOversee donor data management, ensuring data entry is accurate and comprehensive and that acknowledgement letters are sent within a 48-hour windowSupport HANA’s communications efforts by providing data and copy for HANA’s website, social media, website, press releases, and annual reportsAttend and participate in community meetings and other activities as neededParticipate and support other organizational priorities as needed Key Qualifications: Commitment to immigrant rights and social, economic, and racial justiceA belief in communities’ ability to support each other, organize, and achieve desired goals togetherPreferred experience working with community-based organizations, especially those focused on issues related to Korean American, Asian American, immigrant communities and/or social, economic, and racial justiceMinimum 3 years of fundraising, grant writing, and/or communications work experienceExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, accuracy, and proven track record of meeting deadlinesProficiency in using technology and systems to maximize efficiency and impactAbility to build partnerships and gain consensus with co-workers, volunteer leaders, and peersAbility to take initiative, work independently, think creatively, and problem solve with a commitment to continued learningProficiency in using design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite is an assetBilingual in Korean and English languages, both verbal and written, is an assetA valid driver’s license, car, and car insuranceFlexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required Reports To: Executive Director Compensation: This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $65,000-$75,000.
