Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support scalable backend services using Kotlin and modern microservices architecture.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and Java/J2EE-based solutions that support business and platform needs.
- Contribute to architecture discussions, technical reviews, code reviews, testing, and debugging efforts.
- Evaluate emerging tools and technologies through proof-of-concept work with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to create clear system designs, process flows, and implementation plans.
- Support system reliability, resiliency, and disaster recovery planning.
- Promote strong data quality practices across ingestion, processing, storage, and operational workflows.
- Help drive engineering best practices, automation, and continuous improvement throughout the development lifecycle.
- Mentor fellow engineers and provide technical guidance on complex initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience developing production applications in Kotlin.
- Solid background in Java/J2EE and RESTful API development.
- Experience building microservices with Spring Boot.
- Familiarity with monorepo development environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable backend architecture.
- Experience with one or more databases such as Cassandra, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Elasticsearch.
- Working knowledge of Kafka or similar messaging and event streaming platforms.
- Experience with JUnit and Mockito for testing.
- Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as Logstash, Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Grafana.
- Comfort working in CI/CD and automated deployment environments.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in ad tech environments, including DSPs, SSPs, or ad servers.
- Python development experience.
- Knowledge of workflow orchestration or data pipeline tools such as Oozie.
- Experience designing technical solutions aligned with digital advertising and business goals.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $33 - $67 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
