About the role
The Development Director is a strategic fundraising leader and a senior development staff member at RESOLVE, responsible for building and scaling a comprehensive fundraising program across corporate partnerships, foundation giving, individual donors, and events. This role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, overseeing the full development function from prospecting through stewardship while building the infrastructure, processes, and team needed to sustain long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy & Execution (50%)
- Lead a comprehensive development program spanning corporate partnerships, foundation grants, individual major gifts, and event revenue, with a goal of $3M+ in annual fundraising
- Own the full donor and partner lifecycle from prospecting and qualification through solicitation, renewal, and multi-year relationship growth
- Create compelling sponsorship packages, partnership proposals, and gift asks that align funder priorities with RESOLVE's mission, including clear benefits, timelines, and success metrics
- Negotiate contracts and partnership agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial terms and clear deliverables
- Manage partnership activation and fulfillment, delivering exceptional value and maintaining strong donor and sponsor satisfaction
- Cultivate and solicit foundation funders and individual major gift donors, developing tailored engagement strategies and proposals for each prospect
- Create strategic engagement opportunities, including the annual Night of Hope gala sponsorships, patient advocacy initiatives, and custom programs tailored to partner and donor priorities
- Maintain a prioritized pipeline and solicitation calendar across all fundraising channels to ensure consistent coverage, forecasting accuracy, and on-time renewals
- Team-Building and Development Operations (25%)
- Build and lead the development team, including recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new staff and consultants as needed
- Serve as an internal point of contact for external fundraising consultants, coordinating strategy, workstreams, and follow-through to maximize the impact of outside partnerships
- Create scalable systems for prospect research, pipeline management, and performance tracking
- Partner closely with operations to ensure accurate gift processing, invoicing, pledge tracking, and deliverables tracking
- Draft meeting agendas, capture action items, and drive follow-up to keep solicitations and deliverables moving
- Ensure clean CRM hygiene by entering timely notes, contacts, proposals, deliverables, and next steps
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration
- Strategic Planning & Cross-Organizational Collaboration (15%)
- Develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with RESOLVE's strategic plan and organizational priorities, including target sectors, revenue assumptions, and multi-year growth goals
- Serve as a key thought partner to the CEO on development strategy, major gift solicitations, and high-level relationship management
- Partner with advocacy, membership, and communications teams to create integrated funding opportunities, stewardship content, and funder visibility
- Monitor trends in fertility care, corporate giving, foundation funding, and cause marketing to identify new opportunities and translate them into an actionable prospect pipeline
- Budget Management & Performance Analysis (10%)
- Develop and manage the development budget and revenue forecast, ensuring efficient resource allocation and ROI
- Track and report on fundraising metrics, pipeline health, and progress toward revenue goals across all channels
- Analyze performance and revenue trends to inform strategy and resource allocation decisions
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive fundraising experience with demonstrated success across multiple fundraising channels, including corporate partnerships, foundation relations, and/or major gifts
- Proven track record securing six-figure gifts and managing multi-million dollar fundraising portfolios
- Experience building and leading development teams, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward diverse donors and corporate partners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing, grant writing, and presentation abilities
- Experience establishing development systems, processes, and infrastructure in growth-stage organizations
- Proficiency with CRM systems and fundraising technology platforms, with strong data discipline and reporting fluency
- Strategic thinker with strong project management and organizational skills
- Commitment to RESOLVE's mission and passion for ensuring that everyone has the resources they need for family building and infertility care
Strongly Preferred
- Experience in healthcare, women's health, or advocacy organizations
- Existing relationships with pharmaceutical companies, fertility clinic networks, healthcare corporations, or foundations active in reproductive health
- Knowledge of the fertility care landscape, reproductive health policy, or family building issues
- Experience with gala or event sponsorships and cause marketing initiatives
- Track record implementing or optimizing CRM systems (Salesforce, Bonterra, Raiser's Edge, etc.)
- Experience managing grant cycles and foundation reporting requirements
- Experience negotiating sponsorship agreements that include brand, marketing, and compliance considerations

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $90,000 - $115,000, commensurate with experience, and varies by location. Comprehensive benefits including health insurance, fertility benefits, retirement plan with employer match, PTO.
