Seeking our first ever Development Director
About the role
This new leadership position represents much more than filling a role. It is the next critical step in building the philanthropic foundation that will support Fieldstone’s mission of strengthening nonprofit leaders.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with Fieldstone’s mission and strategic goals.
- Build and manage a robust prospect pipeline, identifying and cultivating major donors and prospects.
- Oversee the implementation of a new CRM system to enhance donor management and reporting.
- Secure and steward major gifts, planned gifts, and other high-value donations.
- Lead the development of a member giving campaign to engage existing supporters and expand the donor base.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, funders, and community partners.
- Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership team to align fundraising efforts with overall organizational objectives.
- Develop and lead a team of development professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing charitable organizations.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in development, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Proven track record of successful fundraising, including experience in major gift, planned giving, and corporate partnerships.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit governance and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels within the organization and externally.
- Ability to develop and execute a strategic plan, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Experience in implementing and managing a CRM system.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on results and innovation.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience leading a development team and developing a fundraising strategy.
- Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising best practices and trends.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
