Development Director - American Football

About the role

As a Development Director for EA Tiburon, you will work in a hybrid model (3 days per week on-site) at our Orlando studio and report to the Director of Product Development. You will be accountable for the overall execution of a large-scale project, ensuring it is completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards, while owning the risk registry. In collaboration with stakeholders and partners, you will ensure the team has the tools, processes, and information needed to succeed and meet business goals.

Responsibilities

Leadership

• Lead a cross-functional, global team, fostering an environment where members execute autonomously and take ownership of their work.
• Serve as the main point of contact for escalation issues, resolving conflicts by listening to all perspectives.
• Communicate project progress to teams, partners, and leadership.
• Inspire operational excellence, mentor operational leaders, and contribute to succession planning.
• Develop strong working relationships with your team and key stakeholders.

Project Management

• Lead the team through the full project cycle, validating and reviewing sub-team project plans, and driving milestones and gate reviews.
• Identify risks, issues, and dependencies, proactively setting mitigation and contingency plans, and escalating risks when necessary.
• Guide the team in making tradeoffs, prioritization decisions, and balancing business needs against technical constraints.
• Provide options and collaborate with key leaders to balance quality, time, and cost.
• Drive team and resource planning, anticipating skill gaps and operational needs, and implementing solutions.
• Design standard processes for the project and identify opportunities for improvement, challenging the status quo.
• Manage the budget, execute against the approved financial plan, and provide accurate forecasts of controllable R&D expenses while seeking operational efficiencies.

Requirements

• 10+ years of project management and operations experience, including managing large or multiple complex projects requiring in-depth analysis of situations and multiple factors.
• 5+ years of experience in project management on AAA game franchises or similar software development projects, balancing strategic, analytical, and solutioning skills.
• 5+ years of people management and leadership experience driving outcomes across all levels of an organization.
• Experience with software development methodologies and processes, with an understanding of when to use or adapt each one.
• Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools, including JIRA.
