Development Coordinator
Job Summary
Carmen Schools of Science & Technology (Carmen) is a charter school network in Milwaukee, WI dedicated to preparing students for success in college, careers, community involvement, and family life. The Development Coordinator supports the network's mission through fundraising, marketing, and development initiatives.
About the Role
The Development Coordinator works closely with key stakeholders to lead fundraising, marketing, and development efforts that support Carmen's mission and goals. The ideal candidate is passionate about education and has a strong commitment to making a difference in Milwaukee.
Responsibilities
- Drive fundraising efforts for Carmen Schools in partnership with the Director of Development, including annual giving campaigns and soliciting proposals from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Nurture and maintain a collaborative relationship with the Director of Development, school leadership, and board members, supporting them in their fundraising responsibilities.
- Manage gift proposals, process follow-up documents, prepare acknowledgment letters, and assist with donor visits.
- Identify and pursue individual, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities, and help draft grant applications.
- Maintain a database of all contributors and provide development reports as required.
- Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to create an annual report and produce fundraising-related communication materials.
- Create and support the Carmen Alumni Board, strengthen alumni relationships, and develop alumni giving and programming.
- Maintain the Alumni Database and collaborate with the Chief of College and Post-Transition Team to create newsletters, spotlights, and networking opportunities.
- Partner with the Director of Careers and Partnerships to support career-related programming throughout the year.
- Set up and attend local events to engage potential donors and build relationships with community members.
- Collaborate with local community agencies to create service and programmatic opportunities aligned with Carmen's mission.
Requirements
- An unwavering commitment to and belief in Carmen’s mission
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in fundraising, community engagement, or stakeholder engagement; experience working for schools or community organizations preferred
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactiveness
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet targets
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with grant writing and reporting is a plus
- Familiarity with the local community
- Ability to foster a cooperative, team-oriented work environment

Pay
$45,000 - $65,000 / year
Schedule
Primarily Monday – Friday; occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
