About the Role

Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of special synthetic projects while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Drive the development of new synthetic methods and processes, provide technical guidance to team members, and perform analytical work on reactions. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify new research opportunities and evaluate potential projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, execution, and completion of special synthetic projects.
• Ensure projects meet all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Drive development of new synthetic methods and processes.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
• Perform preliminary and in-process analytical work on reactions.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to explore new research opportunities.
• Identify and evaluate potential new project opportunities.
• Analyze reaction data and apply findings to resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
• Ensure laboratory activities comply with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (focus in synthetic chemistry preferred).
• Strong knowledge of chemical principles and reaction mechanisms.
• Experience handling air-sensitive and pyrophoric materials (e.g., using Schlenk lines and glove boxes).
• Proficiency with modern analytical techniques (NMR, GC, MS, HPLC, UV, IR, TGA, DSC) and instrumentation for isolating and identifying silane or metal-organic compounds.
• Experience with laboratory techniques, analytical instruments, and statistical analysis.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to work in a chemical processing environment, including wearing PPE (safety shoes, glasses, respirators, gloves, etc.).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Occasional travel may be required for conferences, meetings, or collaborative projects.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $140,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, and market considerations may influence the base pay offered. Salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment if authorization is granted to work outside the listed location.
