Developer Relations Engineer
Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft—making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition. We create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by a culture and support that enables them to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.
About the role
The Developer Relations team is building one of the largest payment platforms in the world at a pivotal moment—AI agents are increasingly discovering, evaluating, and integrating with platforms on developers' behalf, projected to transact on payments at a scale rivaling humans. This makes Developer Relations one of the highest-impact teams at Adyen, as we directly shape how both developers and their AI agents build on our platform. Our mission is to make Adyen the easiest platform to integrate with—for humans and agents alike.
We own the quality of developer-facing content (code snippets, integration examples, documentation), surface developer friction with evidence, and drive fixes across the company. We’re also ensuring Adyen’s developer surfaces are agent-legible and agent-reliable as an explicit quality bar. As a small, senior, high-ownership team, a strong hire will genuinely shape the function.
Responsibilities
- Advocate for developers (and AI agents) internally by identifying friction points and driving cross-functional improvements.
- Create high-quality technical content, including integration guides, sample apps, and code snippets.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to ensure our APIs and tools are intuitive and reliable.
- Engage with the developer community, representing Adyen at events, conferences, and online forums.
- Champion documentation quality and surface developer friction with actionable evidence.
- Build the source material developers and agents rely on—high-quality, discoverable integration examples and code snippets across languages, at the bar our strategy demands. Quality, correctness, and discoverability matter more than volume, and keeping content current is critical, as stale content misleads agents as much as people.
- Help make Adyen agent-ready by ensuring our docs, snippets, and developer surfaces are legible and reliable for AI agents and AI-assisted developer workflows. As agents increasingly integrate on developers' behalf, this is one of the most consequential shifts in our industry, and you will help lead this transformation.
Requirements
- Currently working as a Senior Developer Advocate, Software Engineer, or at a similar level, with a strong grasp of APIs, developer tools, and modern integration patterns.
- Passionate about developer experience and reducing friction for both human developers and AI tools.
- Great communication skills and the ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, engaging, and accurate content.
- Proactive problem solver who enjoys taking ownership of projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Skilled at collaborating with various stakeholders, including senior leaders, Product Managers, and Software Engineers.
- Open to some domestic and international travel.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software development, developer relations, or a related technical field.
- Full professional proficiency in English.
