AXA XL · New York, United States · 3 wk ago
Engineering$96k–$159k/yrFull-time

Pricing Analytics & Models (PAM) is a unit of AXA XL’s insurance division that enables product pricing actuaries and underwriters to harness information, deploy tools, and generate insights that improve portfolio management and increase profitability. The Pricing Data Management & Reporting (PDMR) team within PAM owns the data foundation behind pricing. A technology-minded, business-focused team, PDMR builds and maintains the data flows that feed pricing models across AXA XL, and turns that data into the dashboards, reports, and analytics tools the business uses to monitor and steer its portfolios. The team works in a modern stack – Databricks, SQL Server, Python, and Power BI – and is driving transformation of data and reporting for pricing and underwriting.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, combine and transform data from internal and external sources and bundle it into flexible and performant data models for dashboards and analytics.
  • Develop and iterate on Business Intelligence dashboards that give pricing and underwriting clear, usable insight.
  • Partner with pricing actuaries and underwriters to elicit and clarify requirements, translating business needs into clear specifications for data and reporting solutions.
  • Manage projects end to end – scoping, planning, and tracking delivery – while keeping stakeholders from pricing, underwriting, and information technology teams aligned and informed.
  • Explore and apply artificial intelligence and BI methods to improve data and reporting.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation of data models, pipelines, and solutions so that products stay transparent, maintainable, and easy to hand off.

PDMR is a global team that builds and maintains data and reporting for pricing actuaries and underwriters in all regions; as such, this position can be based in any of the listed locations. The initial focus for this role will be on the emerging BI needs in the Americas region.

Requirements

  • A skilled, hands-on coder – able to build robust, maintainable solutions.
  • Proven experience developing BI solutions – dashboards, reports, and data models – including the ability to translate business needs into the right indicators to surface from the data.
  • Excellent analytical and investigative skills – able to dig into data, code, and tools, diagnose and resolve issues at the root, and clearly explain what was found and why it matters.
  • Curious and driven to improve: a self-teacher who embraces new technologies including AI, and looks for better ways of working rather than defaulting to how things have always been done.
  • An effective communicator and collaborator with a client-first mindset – keeping the needs of the actuaries and underwriters you serve front and center, while working effectively with a global, multi-functional team.
  • Takes ownership and drives work to completion – self-organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable leading initiatives and influencing others.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with Guidewire (GW), particularly its data outputs; experience with the GW Data Platform and GW Data Studio is a strong plus.
  • Experience programming in SQL, Python, and R.
  • Experience building dashboards with Power BI, Streamlit, and R/Shiny.
  • Hands-on experience with generative AI, particularly applied in a BI or analytics context.
  • Knowledge of non-life insurance pricing and core actuarial concepts.
  • Progress toward an actuarial qualification (FIA, FCAS, or equivalent).
