Developer

About the role

The Developer designs, develops, tests, and deploys scalable web applications and enterprise solutions. You will build and maintain applications using Python, React.js, Java/Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, and AWS services while collaborating with cross-functional Agile teams. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with modern software development practices, cloud technologies, AI-assisted development tools, and delivering high-quality solutions that meet client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement Python-based enterprise solutions that meet client requirements
• Build, test, deploy, and maintain scalable web applications and services
• Collaborate as a member of a cross-functional Agile team to deliver software solutions aligned with business objectives
• Support quality development practices, including test-driven development and automated testing
• Apply Agile development principles and DevSecOps best practices throughout the software development lifecycle
• Participate in and contribute to code reviews to improve code quality, maintainability, and performance
• Evaluate technical requirements and contribute to user story creation, estimation, and implementation planning
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions
• Create and maintain technical documentation, system designs, and application architecture artifacts
• Develop applications using object-oriented methodologies, design patterns, microservices, databases, and modern web technologies
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions
• Develop and maintain cloud-based applications and services utilizing AWS technologies
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application, integration, and performance issues
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, to generate, review, validate, and optimize code and development workflows
• Provide accurate estimates for assigned tasks and manage deliverables within project timelines

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be willing to work a hybrid schedule (1-2 days) in Reston, VA & client locations in the Washington D.C. area as required
• Ability to pass a 7-year background check and obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Clearance
• Strong communication and presentation skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• 5+ years of hands-on backend development experience using Python
• 5+ years of hands-on frontend development experience using React.js
• Hands-on experience developing applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Experience designing and developing microservices-based architectures
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle
• Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB
• Familiarity with AWS services including S3, EC2, Lambda, SQS, and RDS
• Experience working within Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban
• Experience using JIRA for project and task management
• Proficiency in creating accurate estimates for assigned tasks and work efforts
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, database design, and data modeling
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact directly with non-technical client stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot for code generation, review, validation, and development workflow optimization
