Encova Insurance is seeking a Developer for our Charleston, West Virginia, or Columbus, Ohio location. This is a hybrid opportunity, and we are open to hiring at the Developer I level based on qualifications and experience. This position reports to the Director, Technology & Product Delivery. Unique residence requirements apply; candidates must reside and work within specific U.S. states where Encova is registered for payroll.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $55,132.00 - $88,210.00 annually, plus bonus and benefits. Pay is determined based on location, education, experience, and other job-related factors within the stated range.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate continued technical skill growth.
- Learn and apply code standards within a primary technical domain.
- Demonstrate continued growth in the use of developer environment tools, ancillary software tools, and technology.
- Expand knowledge of assigned applications.
- Participate in team meetings and project scrum meetings.
- Learn and demonstrate development and administrative processes and procedures.
- Write, test, and document code to implement approved change requests.
- Test and debug new or modified code to verify its accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.

- Assist peers in root cause analysis of production incidents.

Requirements
- BS/BA or greater in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- General understanding of technical skills, programming languages, and tools used by the company.
- Logical thinking in decision-making, task completion, and problem-solving.
- Ability to achieve continuous improvement in technical and business acumen.
- Strong written communication skills.
