Detail Design Leader (Sr.)

The Detail Designer (Sr.) at Permasteelisa North America plays a crucial role in supporting our design team by transforming initial conceptual designs into working submittal documents and producing fabrication documents from these submittals.

Responsibilities

• Utilize information from the System Design Leader/Project Design Manager to create submittal documents, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings.
• Understand project specifications, including typologies, areas, and systems used in various projects.
• Adhere to project “Phases” determined by the Design Project Manager.
• Coordinate with the Design Project Manager to address any special project conditions.
• Study and develop shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and PMF (Project Manufacturing Files).
• Be fully conversant with the Group’s Design Process.
• Mentor and instruct junior team members.
• Conduct thorough first checks of all team members’ work before submission to the PDM (Project Design Manager).
• Supervise and assist in producing elevation, floor plan, and detail drawings according to the project-working program.
• Report any slips or deviations from the program to the SDL (System Design Leader) and PDM.
• Ensure derivative design drawings align with structural calculations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the SDL, PDM, or specific business unit/department.
• Participate in safety initiatives, including safety committees, inspections, evacuations, and training, while integrating safety into daily work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or Associate degree (with relevant experience) in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
• 5–8+ years of related experience.
• Experience in construction or curtain-wall industries.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks; experience with Microsoft Office.

Additional Information

• Overtime may be required to ensure work schedule compliance.
• Travel may be required to project locations or inter-company sites responsible for project execution.
