Desk Attendant/Porter
Characteristics Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor and oversee surveillance cameras to maintain building security
- Notify tenants promptly to visitors’ arrival and package deliveries
- Sort, log and distribute incoming mail and packages
- Manage sign-in and sign-out procedures for vendor, contractors and guests
- Provide courteous assistance and greeting to residents and visitors
- Enforce building policies and procedures to ensure safety and compliance
- Maintain the cleanliness of the front desk and main entrance
- Porter duties:
- Clean, dust and sanitize surfaces
- Vacuum, sweep and mop floors in shared and common areas
- Remove from bins and compactor, recyclables, garbage and compose for sanitation pickup
- Transport safely large items from Seth Low to the main campus for disposal
- Assist with exterior cleaning: watering of plants and snow removal
- Report maintenance concerns to the supervisor or manager
- Fulfill work orders as they become available
- Serve as a mover as needed
- Strip and wax floor as needed
- Deep clean apartments and windows for incoming tenants
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years’ experience working as a desk attendant or customer service representative
- 1-2 years’ experience working as a porter, custodian, or janitor
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently; basic computer skills needed; must be able to work independently
Physical Requirements
- Be able to walk and stand for an extended period of time
- Be able to lift 50 lbs or more
- Have the ability to climb stairs and ladders
Preferred Qualifications
- College Degree
- 3-5 years of custodial experience
- 3-5 years of desk attendant experience
Salary Range
$22.99/hr
