DESIGNER SKILLBRIDGE INTERN
Full‑Time, 1st‑shift internship (40‑hour week, minimum 10 weeks) at Newport News Shipbuilding. Salary range: $35,000 – $60,000 (base pay). U.S. citizenship required. No relocation assistance, no telework, no travel, no security clearance required.
The Role
Newport News Shipbuilding offers summer internships that provide students with experience in technical or administrative positions and the possibility of future full‑time employment. Some engineering, technical, and waterfront positions may require physical access to various work sites, including ships under construction or overhaul, and may involve the use of ladders, limited kneeling, stooping, and standing.

- Current academic level (e.g., junior, senior, graduate)
- Overall GPA on a 4.0 scale
- List of relatives (if applicable) employed at Newport News Shipbuilding
Must Have
- Be at least 18 years of age before the start of the summer intern program (mid‑May).
- Be enrolled in a degreed program that supports the company’s business requirements, typically in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Business Management, Accounting, Economics/Finance.
- Have completed at least one year of coursework by May 4.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (official transcripts required).
- Plan to attend a college/university (undergraduate or graduate) in the fall following the internship.
- Successfully complete a criminal background investigation and a hair‑follicle drug screen.
- Work a 40‑hour work week for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer.
- Provide an adequate email address for communication and employment offers.
