Responsibilities

  • Utilize a computer-aided design (CAD) system to create drawings (2D and 3D)
  • Interpret schematics to develop complete system designs
  • Travel to customer sites and participate in field measurements
  • Maintain project schedules
  • Effectively communicate and interact with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers (limited customer contact)
  • Control and document the distribution and archiving of drawings and documents
  • Exercises critical judgment in creating designs that perform functionally and meet project specifications while considering key aspects of safety, cost, code compliance, ability to fabricate, ergonomics and aesthetics
  • Find and implement catalog components into equipment designs
  • Use company-developed sizing calculations and perform simple analysis calculations to verify design functionality
  • Create Bills-of-Material from detailed drawings and release the engineering package to manufacturing
  • Support manufacturing by answering any questions and regularly inspecting the fabrication until shipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred
  • Experience in designing sheet metal assemblies and air handling systems preferred
  • Familiar with mechanical layout, detail drawings, and basic piping preferred
  • Prior experience with PLM software (SAP, Oracle, etc.) preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong skills in math and geometry
  • Proficient in the use of SolidWorks (2D and 3D) and AutoCAD (2D and 3D)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Good communication skills with co-workers, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment
