About the role
As a Designer II in our Public Works department, you will assist the design originator with non-routine and complex technical drafting support for assigned projects independently. This position works closely with the design originator and Design Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform non-routine and complex CAD drafting assignments from verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
- Use Civil3D to create detailed designs of paving, grading, drainage, utilities, and general site development.
- Generate quantities for engineer’s estimates.
- Understand and accurately implement technical design requirements and specifications required by various clients.
- Work independently to produce drawing sets, exhibits, calculations, and other required files which are checked by an engineer and Design Manager.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years’ experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Technical knowledge of CAD operations and engineering specialty discipline.
- Effective communication skills both oral and written.
- Effective interpersonal skills with coworkers.
- Ability to build strong relationships.
- Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs.
