Responsibilities
- Participation in field walk downs, as necessary, to obtain measurements, verify as- built documentation, and develop field sketches in support of plant modifications and design installations.
- Communicate with project engineers and other disciplines to develop drawings and resolve design discrepancies.
- Interface with the customer and their construction representatives to integrate designs to satisfy their standards.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to direct drafting personnel on drawing assignments.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation CAD software packages (or an equivalent software package) and Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, etc.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of design practices, codes, and standards applicable to structural components.
- A working knowledge of structural steel types and materials as they are available in the industry.
- A working knowledge of mechanical design principles and practices.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted commercial nuclear plant access.
Education
- Associates Degree in drafting, design or engineering technology or 4 years of equivalent experience in the design of structural components and/or mechanical systems.
Experience
- 5 years (minimum) of experience is required in structural engineering design and/or mechanical system design practices in addition to the education requirements.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge or use of Raster Design or 3D modeling experience.
- Field experience using a terrestrial laser scanner and survey equipment.
- Recent plant modification package development and/or field experience on nuclear power plant projects.
