About the role
Create technical drawings and design documents to support production of Switchgear Division products.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining revision control on all CAD files.
- Prepare drawings in collaboration with Applications/Sales/Design Engineers.
- Assemble/Convert design concepts from engineering staff and create design documents that fully specify the design intent and support the manufacture of the product.
- Prepare both mechanical and electrical design documents.
- Make recommendations to improve product cost, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Work with production personnel (both Division and vendor) to resolve design issues.
- Create drawing files and keep them updated according to Company procedures.
- Support and assist Design Engineering Manager as needed.
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Division by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, visitors, and callers in a timely and cooperative manner.
- Know MEPPI’s Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.
- Provide basic design support for Applications and Design Engineers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in drafting or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a custom manufacturing environment, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced skills with 3D modeling CAD packages.
- Advanced skills with both mechanical and electrical drawing practices.
- Ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and ERP/MRP systems.
