Designer/Drafter 1 & 2 (Mechanical)

Key responsibilities

• Performs preconstruction design reviews and ensures designs are ready to execute.
• Performs material takeoffs from native files and assists procurement in ordering correct materials.
• Conducts 2-phase review cycles (initial and final), providing shop drawings and setting drawings for guidance during installation of equipment.
• Carries out walkdowns in TA-55, PF4, and various warehouses using a government vehicle.
• Produces and details routine drawings and layouts of components, facilities, and systems.
• Generates and modifies computer-aided design (CAD) drawings of moderate complexity under the direction of a senior designer.
• Applies industry codes, standards, and customer specifications to prepare work plans, drawings, and layouts.
• Utilizes engineering design principles to design and fabricate components and assemblies as directed.
• Understands fabrication, construction, operation, and maintenance requirements relevant to designated disciplines.
• Collaborates with engineering teams to ensure drawing quality.
• Performs calculations in support of technical problems.
• Produces work within budget and schedule constraints.
• Participates in process improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma:
• Level 1: One-to-two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Level 2: Three-to-five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Skills

• Experience with Building Integrated Model (BIM) drafting tool.
• CAD certification (no preference for which version).
