DESIGNER 4

About the role

Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA.
• Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.
• Captures and communicates design requirements to engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups.
• Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 10 years of experience -or- Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years experience.
• Nice to have: Experience in O&F design and/or design checking.
• Strong office and Design tool capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Ship Constructor, AutoCAD and Navis.

Qualifications
