Nordstrom Designated Selling Associates (DSAs) drive sales and champion the brands they represent through exceptional customer service, product expertise, and relationship-building.
About the role
The ideal DSA is passionate about fashion, thrives in a one-on-one sales environment, and leads in customer service, product knowledge, and merchandising. DSAs drive predictable business through appointment-based selling, cultivate relationships with both new and existing customers, and educate peers on brand trends and product knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Set and achieve sales goals for in-store and digital selling using tools like text, social media, and reservations
- Build lasting relationships with customers and provide service tailored to their needs, occasionally working in other departments or brands as needed
- Provide honest, confident feedback to customers on style, fit, and wardrobe value
- Seek fashion and product knowledge through meetings and trainings to build expertise
- Build relationships with other DSAs, Stylists, and departments by leading product knowledge meetings
- Provide product feedback to District Managers to improve store assortments
- Drive sales through appointment-based selling during events and non-event periods
- Maintain a customer-ready department through stocking, re-merchandising, display updates, price markdowns, transfers, and cleaning
- Grow sales by opening new Nordstrom Rewards program accounts
Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish customer rapport and cultivate relationships
- Ability to excel in a competitive team environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
- Flexibility to work a schedule based on business needs
- Ability to read and interpret sales reports in relation to goals
- Skill in educating customers on new and emerging brands, tailoring suggestions to their needs
- Confidence with high and low price points, demonstrating item value and wardrobe completion
- Strong understanding of customers’ holistic wardrobe and style, with high organizational skills to strategically follow up and advise on wardrobe needs
Physical Requirements
- Continuous movement for 6-8 hours per shift, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching to handle merchandise and assist customers
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- Handling bulky or awkwardly shaped items, including reaching above the head
- Regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds
Pay
Hourly pay range: $18.05. Commission varies by merchandise sold—typically 3% to 14.5% for apparel, shoes, and accessories, and 3% for Beauty and Men’s Fragrance.
