About the role
The Northeast Academy for Aerospace & Advanced Technologies is a public regional STEM school. Teachers facilitate learning through hands-on, project-based instruction, encouraging students to think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, and collaborate.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous, engaging lessons that build upon individual strengths and offer students maximum opportunities to participate in their own learning.
- Engage all students in learning using a contextual project-based instructional format.
- Lead students to develop soft skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration.
- Utilize technology to facilitate instruction and maximize student learning.
- Employ a variety of assessment tools and strategies to measure student progress toward learning, college, and career goals.
- Select and utilize different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
- Counsel students through the Advisory Program, promoting high expectations and the skills needed for success beyond high school.
- Promote family support of students’ learning experience within the context of multicultural understanding and competencies.
- Promote and enhance the instructional program by leveraging home, school, and community partnerships to address barriers to learning and achievement.
- Develop and provide training and educational programs that address the goals and mission of the educational institution.
- Demonstrate personal commitment to professional growth through participation in professional learning activities.
- Contribute as a member of a high-performing team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of three years experience as a middle or high school teacher preferred.
- NC Professional Educator’s License preferred, but not required; Must be eligible to obtain license within 3 years.
- A deep commitment to serving the needs of students and families who are first-generation college-goers and those typically underrepresented in postsecondary education and STEM fields.
