Design Technology Lead
About the Role
As a member of the South Central Design Technology team, the Design Technology Lead advances the strategic implementation of tools, processes, and standards with a focus on BIM and digital project delivery. This role provides technical leadership, workflow optimization, project guidance, and team enablement across regional offices and project teams. Reporting to the Regional Design Technology Manager, the Design Technology Lead partners with Design Technology, Technical, and project leadership to improve project quality, strengthen BIM performance, address training needs, and resolve complex delivery challenges. The role helps translate regional priorities into scalable standards, workflows, training, and project guidance that advance consistent BIM-driven digital design practices across the region.
Responsibilities
- BIM Strategy + Project Enablement
- Advise teams on BIM strategy, BIM execution planning, project setup, and digital delivery requirements
- Support complex projects through advanced BIM consultation and technical expertise
- Guide project teams in applying standards and effective workflows
- Support pursuit teams in evaluating BIM requirements, scope, and delivery considerations
- Project Quality + Performance
- Partner with Technical and project leadership to strengthen BIM-enabled project quality
- Conduct project and model health reviews at key milestones
- Identify delivery risks, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities
- Develop metrics and reporting that improve visibility into project health and BIM performance
- Workflow Optimization
- Evaluate workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and standardization
- Identify repetitive processes and technology gaps affecting project delivery
- Assess technology utilization and opportunities to increase value from existing platforms
- Develop scalable solutions that improve consistency across projects and studios
- Training + Team Development
- Identify training needs through project engagement, audits, metrics, and support trends
- Develop and deliver targeted BIM and Design Technology training
- Mentor BIM leaders and Design Technology champions
- Develop standards, guidance, and resources that strengthen regional capabilities
- Strategic Collaboration
- Partner with Technical, Design, Project Management, IT, and firmwide Design Technology teams
- Contribute to regional BIM strategy, standards, priorities, and continuous improvement
- Share successful practices and lessons learned across studios
- Serve as a regional resource for complex BIM and digital delivery challenges
- Support internal initiatives, coordination, and team enablement across the organization
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of AEC experience
- Demonstrated experience with BIM implementation and digital project delivery
- Strong knowledge of BIM standards, workflows, model coordination, and project delivery practices
- Advanced proficiency with BIM authoring, coordination, and cloud collaboration platforms
- Experience developing BIM execution strategies, standards, workflows, and implementation guidance
- Ability to assess workflows, identify opportunities, and translate insights into scalable improvements
- Experience delivering technical guidance, training, and mentorship
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across project, technical, and leadership teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across projects and studios
