Design Technician I

Join our dedicated team as a Design Technician I, where you will support gas utility operations by interpreting technical documentation and maintaining accurate utility data systems. Responsibilities

• Support utility design projects by learning to read and interpret technical documents related to gas operations.
• Update utility data systems to reflect provided documentation.
• Assist with GPS surveys, overhead and underground line locating, inspections, testing, and documentation of power distribution, gas distribution, telecom facilities, rights-of-way, and related infrastructure.
• Complete design-related tasks such as drafting, basic calculations, easement validation, cost estimating, and permit package development.
• Manage multiple assignments to meet productivity, quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
• Work closely with senior technicians, engineers, managers, and project teams.
• Participate in peer reviews and quality control checks.
• Identify data discrepancies and coordinate construction activities.
• Ensure all work complies with company safety policies, design standards, and governing authority regulations.

Requirements

• Entry-level position with a strong desire to learn and work in a technical field.
• Prior experience in construction, utility, or pipeline environments is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) or GIS design tools is a plus.
• Working knowledge of basic software programs such as Microsoft Office and ArcGIS.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work effectively in a production-driven environment.

Pay

This position pays between $21 and $24 hourly and is a non-exempt position.
