Responsibilities

  • Lead the application of quality tools such as FMEA, control plans, and APQP in product design projects to address potential risks and ensure compliance.
  • Work with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to align quality objectives across the product lifecycle.
  • Identify and analyze the cost of poor quality within assigned design projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams on a smaller scope to address defect trends, implement preventative measures, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that reduce COPQ.
  • Define, document, and apply critical-to-quality (CTQ) features within assigned projects, working collaboratively with production and supply chain teams to implement control mechanisms that maintain CTQ standards on a smaller scale.
  • Review and interpret quality data to identify trends and provide actionable feedback to design teams.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within design workflows and lead initiatives to implement changes.
  • Provide quality support for product engineering teams, working closely with product engineering and product teams to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvements.
  • Support the resolution of complex quality issues, utilizing advanced problem-solving tools to identify root causes and implement effective preventative measures.
  • Utilize quality feedback and metrics to identify opportunities for design and process improvements, driving data-driven decision-making across the company.
  • Support other quality engineers in their work, setting standards and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the quality engineering team.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating relevant advancements into the company's approach to quality engineering.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in quality engineering focusing on design quality within the electrical industry or a related industry.
  • High level of proficiency in APQP methodologies and their application in design.
  • Sound knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with statistical analysis tools used for quality analysis.
  • Rounded understanding of design validation frameworks, including Design Verification and Validation (DVV).
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.
  • Good project management skills, able to successfully lead small project teams through challenges.
  • Sound organizational and multitasking skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Sound attention to detail with an analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation).
  • Able to liaise with key stakeholders outside the quality function in technical and non-technical roles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc), including excellent Excel skills and experience using Power BI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certification from ASQ.

Pay & Benefits

Compensation: The estimated annual base salary range for this position in the United States is $106,073 - $140,549.64. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.
