About the role
The McPherson County Public Works is hiring a Full-time County Design/Project Engineer. The ideal candidate should be a recent graduate from an accredited college or university, preferably with an EIT certification, or capable of obtaining the FE certification within six months.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of all county engineering projects, including roads, bridges, and drainage structures under the direction of the Project Engineer or Director.
- Become Bridge Inspection Team Leader after employment and receive KDOT inspection and materials testing certifications.
- Train in using Autodest Civil 3D, ASSHTOWare Bridge Loading software, Micro stations, and other design programs.
- Assist in problem-solving county road and bridge maintenance and construction issues.
- Assist in the operation of the county's asphalt plant.
Requirements
- Recent graduate from an accredited college or university.
- Preferably with an EIT certification, or capable of obtaining the FE certification within six months.
- Proficiency in using Autodest Civil 3D, ASSHTOWare Bridge Loading software, Micro stations, and other design programs.
- Ability to solve problems related to county road and bridge maintenance and construction.
- Basic knowledge of asphalt plant operations.
Qualifications
- Passing the PE exam may lead to a structured salary increase.
- Two pay increases within one year of employment are expected.

Pay
