Design Manager, Outerwear - Calvin Klein
About the Role
The CK Global Outerwear Design Manager serves as a key executional partner in translating global design direction into commercially viable product for the Calvin Klein Consumer. Focused on bringing pre-selected seasonal concepts to market, this role is responsible for adapting existing styles, managing product updates, and ensuring design accuracy throughout the development process. The Design Manager collaborates closely with cross-functional teams—including Merchandising, Technical Design, and Product Development—to maintain seasonal timelines, meet margin goals, and deliver high-quality product aligned with brand standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist Design Director to interpret seasonal concept, color, and key item direction.
- Follow global (EU) design direction and leverage curated styles selected by SVP Merchandising Leadership for the North America market.
- Create and illustrate cohesive product groups, incorporating novelty designs with an understanding of color theory, materials, garment construction, and brand identity.
- Multi-task and work across multiple seasons simultaneously—balancing in-season execution with forward-looking concepting.
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners to obtain original samples, artwork, and cost information; create or update designs to meet aesthetic and margin targets.
- Create detailed technical drawings for tech packs, ensure data accuracy in BOMs in PLM (Centric), and manage ongoing updates and communication with PD partners and vendors.
- Drive and leverage opportunities to align fabric and trim across channels, where applicable.
- Manage library of artwork updates and CAD files, ensuring style and color accuracy across all systems and presentations.
- Attend and contribute to fittings; collaborate with Technical Design to ensure fit intent and construction quality.
- Review and approve lab dips, handlooms, wash panels, and PP samples, including additional colorways.
- Participate in development and post-proto meetings to ensure feedback is clearly documented, communicated, and actioned across teams.
- Ensure alignment on key calendar milestones and proactively resolve potential delays.
- Prepare and present compelling design boards and product reviews to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- 8-10 years of related outerwear design experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent.
- Design experience and an inherent understanding of the design process.
- Proficient knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, Web PDM/PLM, Miro.
- Strong organization, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Strong work ethic with adaptability to frequent directional and practical changes in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage shifting priorities while delivering high-quality work on time.
- Passion for supporting team goals and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Creative problem-solving skills to evolve processes for efficiency, agility, and growth.
What To Expect
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Domestic and international travel may be required.
Pay
Pay Range: $104,500 – $141,200. This role is bonus eligible.
