About the role

The Design Manager - Education will oversee the design process for the Facilities Planning and Development Division, ensuring projects meet functional, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements. They will manage multiple projects from conception to final approval, coordinate with architects, consultants, and district personnel, and recommend qualified architectural firms.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and directs design activities for Education projects
  • Manages the District's design process to ensure compliance with standards and guidelines
  • Manages multiple projects through the design, drafting, and final review stages
  • Ensures designs meet functional needs, educational standards, and community expectations
  • Reviews design changes to maintain budget and project scope
  • Provides clear direction to architects regarding project goals, standards, schedules, and budgets
  • Establishes and follows a design review process to ensure project success
  • Coordinates with various district branches and departments to manage project activities
  • Develops and participates in community outreach programs related to building projects
  • Participates in professional development opportunities and maintains professional licenses and memberships

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years full-time professional experience in facilities design or capital project management, with 5 years in educational facilities or similar public agencies
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering
  • Valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect

  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Experience with educational facility design and construction
  • Ability to work collaboratively with architects, consultants, and district personnel
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations

Pay

$114,345.69 - $130,680.78
