Company Overview
Since 1971, MSI has been designing and building molds of exceptional accuracy and durability. Our mission is to lead the industry in the design and production of value-added plastic molds, serving customers in various industries including computer, business machine, medical diagnostics, material handling, sporting goods, lawn and garden, appliance, consumer electronics, heavy equipment, and transportation.
Student Qualifications
- High School: Students entering their senior year in high school and older are eligible to apply for an internship. Interns under age 18 must have a parent co-sign the internship agreement.
- College: Students accepted into an approved Advanced Manufacturing related program
Program Overview
MSI aims to develop new talent through its internship program, providing hands-on learning experiences and developing interpersonal and technical skills necessary for success in the workforce. Internships are paid and flexible regarding hours based on school schedules.
High School Interns
- Exposed to all areas of MSI's production and engineering areas
- Assigned tasks that are not directly related to operating machinery but valuable to the organization
- Goal is to evaluate work ethic and basic abilities relevant to Advanced Manufacturing
College Interns
- First year students train in components and manual machining areas like lathes and mills
- May also include saw cutting, benching, and maintenance work
- Engineering students gain exposure to the manufacturing process and machining
- Second year students train on 2D machines and add detailing work to duties
- Tasks are based on schooling and background, advancing based on skill set and attitude
Internships
- Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures, and safety rules
- Assume personal responsibility for actions and activities
- Maintain professional relationships with company employees, customers, etc.
- Develop self-awareness and demonstrate a team player attitude
Employer
- Adopt a courteous, enthusiastic, open-minded approach to policies, procedures, and work
- Provide regular feedback and monthly reviews during the first year, then every 90 days thereafter
- Expose and provide learning opportunities in various departments and positions within the organization
Educational Assistance
- Eligible for educational benefits including payments for tuition, fees, and books
- Reimbursement for expenses actually incurred, with grades of "B" or above and attendance requirements
- Annual reimbursement limit of $5,250 for undergraduate degrees, with additional amounts classified as wages
- Grants, scholarships, or other financial assistance may reduce reimbursement amounts
