About the role

The Design Integration Manager leads and coordinates all preconstruction management activities, overseeing multidisciplinary design efforts, facilitating permitting strategies, and assessing risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all preconstruction management activities—budgeting, scheduling, change management, communication, meetings, and document control—while ensuring team alignment and use of collaboration tools.
  • Oversee and integrate multidisciplinary design efforts, ensuring deliverables meet project requirements, are constructible, well-coordinated, properly documented, and supported by accurate field data.
  • Facilitate permitting strategies and processes across federal, state, and local levels, including environmental investigations, agency coordination, property access agreements, compliance review, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks by developing mitigation strategies, maintaining risk documentation, and supporting cost, schedule, and contingency decisions.
  • Lead estimating teams through the development of preliminary estimates and GMP proposals by engaging partners, aligning scope, detailing assumptions, while integrating cost, schedule, phasing, and procurement considerations.
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance while implementing a robust quality program with structured reviews to validate and improve design deliverables.
  • Develop construction strategies and evaluate design alternatives to optimize cost, schedule, safety, and quality, while facilitating constructability reviews and resolving design issues.
  • Support project pursuits by shaping teams, scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical strategies to align with client requirements and proposal commitments.
  • Provide continuity from preconstruction into construction by supporting change management, permitting, documentation, and final closeout activities including commissioning and turnover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 8+ years’ experience in design build, integrated project delivery or complex construction projects
  • Strong understanding of construction execution, sequencing, means and methods, and close-out
  • PE & DBIA Certification (Desired)
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods such as Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, or CM/GC
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple design disciplines and external consultants
  • Understanding and experience with win strategies, pricing and project scheduling
  • Experience in technical writing
  • Understanding of Scheduling, Estimating and Project Controls Software
  • A valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles you may be driving and an acceptable driving record
