About the role

Bolton & Menk has an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer, EIT, to join our Transportation team in one of our metro offices. This is a fantastic chance to work with a talented team of professionals and make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Aid project engineers with design and construction phase activities on transportation projects
  • Perform basic design computations, preliminary layout and design, research, and prepare rough drafts of preliminary reports and feasibility studies
  • Prepare project plans and specifications, cost and quantity take-off estimates
  • Conduct traffic corridor studies related to traffic operations, traffic safety, modal integration, and access management
  • Design traffic control devices including traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, roadway lighting, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), work zones, and detours
  • Apply design to existing infrastructure or part of larger transportation improvement plans and specifications
  • Participate in construction observation activities, including performing construction staking, documentation, measurement, testing, and interaction with contractors, sub-contractors, residents, and city staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college
  • Certified Engineer-in-Training or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
  • Prior experience in infrastructure design and/or construction observation
  • Working knowledge and skills in CAD and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation)
  • Developing knowledge of specialized traffic software (SYNCHRO, SIMTraffic, Arcady, VISSIM, etc.) preferred
  • Frequent travel during construction season
  • Valid drivers license for travel to various facilities and job sites

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Skills

  • Proficient in CAD and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation)
  • Knowledge of specialized traffic software (SYNCHRO, SIMTraffic, Arcady, VISSIM, etc.)

Pay

$58,000 - $90,000 depending on years of experience and credentials
