Johnson Service Group is seeking a Design Engineer to work in Oklahoma City, OK.
Responsibilities
- Design components manufactured from composite and metallic materials.
- Develop mechanical fluid systems to route liquids and gasses.
- Integrate hardware into complex, tightly packaged mechanical assemblies.
- Prepare formal, controlled engineering documentation (e.g., drawings, specifications, parts lists, and interface control documents).
- Use Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) to design, develop, and document models and drawings for aerospace hardware manufacturing (Dassault products preferred, such as CATIA, 3DX).
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), perform tolerance studies, and determine drawing requirements for affordable and practical designs.
- Prepare and present design review material for technical interchange meetings with suppliers and customers.
- Ensure assigned scope meets project objectives per schedule and cost targets.
- Apply systems engineering principles to prepare designs in accordance with customer and derived engineering requirements.
- Support system testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Support flight testing, data reduction, analysis, and reporting.
- Utilize PLM systems and configuration control.
- Prepare test plans, test procedures, and reports.
- Comply with established Quality Management System procedures.
- Prepare and present design review and technical interchange material to customers.
- Report progress in meeting customer requirements periodically.
- Provide technical and programmatic direction and oversight to Mechanical/Structures Engineers.
- Interface with other engineering disciplines to ensure Mechanical/Structures requirements are addressed during system integration.
- Support business development efforts, including preparation of quotes, proposals, and sales efforts.
- Monitor and report on customer satisfaction related to projects.
Requirements
- Strong background in composite airframe design and composite material systems.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5; experience with SMARTEAM, PLM, or ENOVIA is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of structural mechanics and analysis.
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods for composite materials and machined metallic hardware is highly desired.
