Design Engineer III – Fluids & Propulsion – Crewed Lunar Lander

About the role

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. The Fluid Systems Design Engineer supports the design and development of the cryogenic management and supply subsystem on the MK2 Crew Lander.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of the cryogenic management and supply subsystem on the MK2 Crew Lander
• Work with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program
• Develop the MK2 Crewed Lunar Lander that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth

Requirements

• B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
• 4+ years of experience in developing and testing space-vehicle propulsion systems
• Experience designing propulsion systems or hardware using CAD software such as CREO or Siemens NX
• Experience or familiarity with first order fluids or structural analysis
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with partners
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly interface with external parties including government and commercial entities
• Willingness to work on-site with occasional travel

Qualifications

• M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area preferred
• Expertise in CREO
• Experience with upper stages and spacecraft
• Experience with cryogenic propellants
• Experience with the entire life cycle of a propulsion or fluid system
• Experience with fluids tube routing, pressurization systems, and controls
• Experience with coordinating hardware integration

Skills

• Strong understanding of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
• Proficiency in CAD software (CREO, Siemens NX)
• Experience with propulsion systems and hardware design
• Ability to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills

Pay

For CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85
WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
