About the role

This position serves as an Area Lead on assigned projects or performs moderately complex engineering assignments, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques to a medium set of difficult assignments. Responsibilities include promoting Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence.

Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work. Develop and review specifications, including design criteria. Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting. Assign work to teams, monitor and manage the work. Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderately complex engineering problems. Review vendor equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements and seek discrepancy resolution. Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform control systems sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, flow elements, thermowells, and other instrumentation.
  • Create instrument index and datasheets and generate reports in Hexagon Smart® Instrumentation database.
  • Develop intermediate complexity control systems narrative specifications.
  • Develop basic control systems, cause and effect diagrams, or logic diagrams as required by project.
  • Represent control systems and participate in model reviews.
  • Develop specifications and design of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware and software applications; monitor DCS/PLC/SIS design developed by the design group.

Requirements

  • Accredited four-year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and six years of work-related experience.
  • A recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
  • Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

  • Professional registration and membership in technical society (preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability, and cost of materials.
  • Practical field experience.
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs.

Skills

  • Specifying instrumentation.
  • Control systems procurement activities.
  • Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) representation; ability to recognize/report problems associated with control systems representation on P&ID.
  • Developing control strategies and representing them on P&ID.
  • Instrument design and installation requirements.

Pay

Salary Range: $92,000.00 - $171,000.00. The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
