About the role

The Central Engineering Support Team is a national resource group providing specialized technical support, mentoring, and engineering deliverables to supplement and strengthen local engineering teams across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in turnover meetings with the branch field team and work closely with the branch Lead Engineer to provide quality delivery.
  • Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents.
  • Create necessary drawings (flow diagrams, point schedule, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts etc.) and schedules (valve, damper, etc.) for submittals and installation.
  • Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system with the intent of the branch’s project requirements.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting support with graphics and databases.
  • Ensure quality and consistency by strictly following QA/QC standards for all engineering deliverables.
  • Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects.
  • Carefully coordinate factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule.
  • May assist in the start-up, loading, and commissioning of system controllers as required.
  • May assist in commissioning system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • Maintain clear communication with branch teams regarding progress, risks, and concerns.
  • Actively participate in the Engineering Mentoring Program.
  • Adhere to safety standards with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

Requirements

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.

Deep understanding of BAS programming and HVAC fundamentals, including system sequences and field applications.

Solid knowledge of control theory and building automation systems.

Advanced computer skills, including engineering tools.

Experience with integrating low-voltage building systems, such as lighting.

Understanding of BACnet and Modbus protocols and communication standards.

Confidently lead technical decisions with sound engineering judgment and accountability.

Clear and effective communication skills with project teams.

Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.

Enjoy working with a team and mentoring others.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in building automation systems, control systems, or related fields.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.

Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in building automation systems.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

Hiring salary range: $85,000 – 117,500 USD.

The salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and market data.
