Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed technical analyses of OsecoElfab products and associated tooling to establish fully defined and documented design principles and dimensions.
- Ensure compatibility between products across various product lines.
- Lead quality improvement projects for existing products, applying structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Build collaborative relationships with Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Production teams.
- Prepare and present technical training for internal teams.
- Identify critical product features and dimensions, reducing product development cycle time and eliminating design risk areas.
- Collaborate in Kaizen and 5S projects to drive operational excellence.
- Analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess feasibility and recommend design solutions.
- Create and maintain Engineering Product Documentation, including Design Standards and Tooling Standards.
- Identify and document future product design opportunities and present them to Segment teams for potential IP opportunities.
- Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software (e.g., SolidWorks, FEA/simulation tools) to perform engineering tasks with precision and efficiency.
- Plan daily, weekly, and monthly workload, aligning priorities with objectives.
- Design and establish manufacturing specifications for new products and adapted products to fulfill customer needs in their application.
- Participate in Agile team structures, supporting sprint ceremonies including planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives to deliver iterative engineering work products.
- Contribute to Stage Gate New Product Development (NPD) processes by completing assigned deliverables at each phase, supporting gate readiness reviews, and maintaining documentation to project milestones.
- Engage with customer feedback and application data to develop an understanding of customer pain points; contribute to the translation of these insights into product requirements and design decisions.
- Utilize AI-assisted engineering and productivity tools to support design tasks, automate routine analyses, and improve documentation quality and turnaround time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 3-5 years of applicable experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and familiarity with engineering simulation or FEA tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, military, and/or defense industry environments, including familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and design requirements
- Demonstrated experience in AI architectural design or the development of AI-enabled tools to improve engineering efficiency, reduce cycle time, or automate repetitive analysis tasks
- Familiarity with business model and value proposition design frameworks such as Strategyzer (Business Model Canvas, Value Proposition Canvas), Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD), or Lean Canvas; ability to apply these frameworks to align product design decisions with customer needs and commercial objectives
