Design Engineer I

About the role

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Design Engineer I for an assignment with one of our clients in Oshkosh, WI. The position offers a hybrid schedule 3x weekly onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks assigned according to Client as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
  • Supports senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Works on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
  • Collaborates as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
  • Maintains effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
  • Enforces the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards.
  • Ensures that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Prepares technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
  • Utilizes analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.
  • Analyzes and resolves issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.
  • Provides non-complex technical assistance for production support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field along with Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience strongly preferred.

Standout Qualifications

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.
  • Experience with a high level CAD system.
