Design Engineer (Capital Improvement)

The Department of Environmental Services (DES) is seeking a Design Engineer I, II, or III to join its Engineering Bureau, a team of approximately 60 employees providing surveying, design, and construction management services for public works capital improvement projects. The Bureau manages a diverse portfolio of 75 to 100 projects, ranging from $100,000 to $10 million in construction costs, including transportation, stormwater, water, sewer, and other infrastructure improvements. Consulting services are utilized as needed to support project delivery. Engineer III (senior level) performs the duties of the position independently; Engineer II (journey level) performs the work with limited supervision; and Engineer I (entry level) performs the work under close guidance and supervision.
