Design Engineer
We are partnering with a family-owned manufacturing company in Madison, WI to find a Design Engineer/Product Designer. This role offers the chance to work on real-world projects from concept through production, seeing your designs translate into finished retail products.
About the role
We are looking for a practical, creative designer who can take ideas from concept to production-ready execution with minimal oversight. This role offers ownership of the full design lifecycle—from initial concept through modeling, documentation, and production handoff. Ideal for someone who enjoys seeing their work come to life and thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
Responsibilities
- Translate customer needs into design concepts, from initial sketches to detailed models
- Create 3D models, technical drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) for production
- Manage design projects including file organization, version control, and documentation
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable
- Support process improvements and adoption of new tools
- Contribute ideas to improve efficiency and team workflows
Requirements
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with Blender or other 3D modeling tools is a plus
- Ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings and BOMs
- Self-starter who can manage projects independently
- Strong organizational and file management skills
- Solid communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts
- ERP system experience (such as Odoo) is a plus
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, design, or fabrication environment preferred
Recent technical graduates with strong portfolios are encouraged to apply, as well as candidates with hands-on fabrication or shop experience.

Schedule
Full-time, onsite role working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
