About the role
RigUp is seeking a Telecommunications Design Engineer to support large-scale semiconductor and data center projects in Tempe, Arizona.
In this role, you will own the telecommunications scope for complex facility projects while collaborating with architects, engineers, designers, and client representatives. You will develop coordinated telecommunications designs using AutoCAD and Revit MEP, supporting both 3D BIM models and detailed construction documentation.

Responsibilities
- Own telecommunications design scope for large and complex semiconductor and data center projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams, including architects and engineers.
- Coordinate directly with client representatives to develop facility designs that meet project requirements.
- Lead telecommunications design activities and provide technical direction to design staff.
- Develop fully coordinated 3D telecommunications models using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
- Design Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure.
- Develop inter-building and intra-building backbone distribution systems.
- Design communication room layouts and rack elevations.
- Develop wired and wireless device plans.
- Prepare cable schedules and related telecommunications documentation.
- Produce coordinated BIM models, construction specifications, and 2D drawing packages.
- Ensure designs and calculations comply with NEC, TIA standards, and applicable client and project specifications.
- Support project estimating and scheduling activities for small to medium-sized projects.
- Coordinate design and construction specifications across project disciplines.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Two-year technical degree or four-year non-technical degree.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in telecommunications design and construction.
- Working knowledge of TIA standards and BICSI design practices.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and applicable electrical design requirements.
- Experience leading a telecommunications design team.
- Knowledge of design and construction specifications.
- Experience estimating and scheduling small to medium-sized projects.
- Strong technical communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work effectively within an integrated multidisciplinary design team.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 3 years of telecommunications design experience in semiconductor or data center facilities.
- RCDD, DCDC, OSP, or RTPM certification.
- Project management experience.
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, or other 3D BIM software.
- Experience designing paging, intercom, and audiovisual systems.
- Knowledge of control systems and network topology.
- Strong understanding of data center telecommunications infrastructure.
- Experience coordinating complex multidisciplinary BIM design packages.
- Familiarity with construction documentation and project delivery requirements.
Pay
$38–$53 per hour
